The Transfiguration Cathedral of Tambov with the relics of St. Pitirim of Tambov located in it is the main shrine of the Tambov region and a witness to many historical events. As this study shows, the history of the cathedral was very difficult. Its construction and beautification continued for centuries. Archpastors, mayors, clergy, patrons contributed their work and talents to the construction of the main temple of the city. The author of the article expresses confidence that the time has come for the modern generation of Tambov residents to make their significant contribution to its transformation in order to make the Transfiguration Cathedral more majestic, and the Cathedral Square more beautiful and attractive.
