Preface

Abstract

We present to our readers the first issue of the periodical “Theological Collection of the Tambov Theological Seminary”, published in the year of the 100th anniversary of the canonization of Saint Pitirim, who did much for the spiritual education of the Tambov region and laid the foundations of Orthodox traditions. The publication of the collection coincides with the 10th anniversary of the revival of the Tambov Theological Seminary. The seminary has no experience of such scientific publishing work either in the past or at present. The collection includes mainly articles by teachers and graduates of the seminary, devoted to the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, theology, church art (architecture, icon painting, sculpture, liturgical texts and singing) and other important topics related to teaching methods in theological schools, worship, pastoral work and the life of society. Much attention is paid to the history of the Tambov Seminary and issues of spiritual education, as well as the history and culture of the Tambov diocese.
