The article examines an unknown article by Archbishop Mikhail (Chub) "Orthodox Shrine in Mozdok" about the Mozdok Icon of the Mother of God. Bishop Mikhail was the administrator of the Stavropol and Baku Diocese from 1962 to 1968, and served in Mozdok on numerous occasions. This, in all likelihood, explains his interest in the Mozdok shrine. The history of the Mozdok Icon of the Mother of God began several centuries earlier than the history of the city that later gave it its name. Many memories of the fate of Christianity in the Caucasus are associated with this icon. The Icon of the Mother of God, now known as the Mozdok Icon, came to the Ossetians at the beginning of the 13th century from the Georgian Queen Tamara (1184-1213), as a sign of special attention to the neighboring people, related to the Georgians in faith. This icon is a copy of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God. Currently, the revered exact copies of the miraculous Mozdok Icon of the Mother of God are a sacred adornment and the center of prayerful glorification of the Mother of God in the churches of Mozdok and Prokhladny.
