Historical aspects of the origin of homiletics

The article examines the historical aspects of the origin of homiletics. Speaking about the origin of homiletics, the author notes that the most important source for homiletics is the teachings of Jesus Christ. No less important source for preaching are the teachings of the apostles. In particular, the apostle Paul. He speaks about the nature of preaching, defining it as a spiritual phenomenon. This is how Christian preaching differs from secular speech, and the teaching of the Gospel, being Divine Revelation, is proclaimed as a reliable and immutable truth. During the time of the apostles and the era of the apostolic men, faith was so strong, and grace was poured out so abundantly that pastors had special gifts of a homiletic nature. Graceful inspiration was the best assistant of the pastor in the work of proclaiming the truth of Christ. However, since the time of Origen, who taught that a preacher needs work and preliminary preparation in addition to inspiration, a new approach to preaching has taken hold.
