Axiology of the image of the Divine Liturgy in the collection of sermons of the Holy Martyr Seraphim (Zvezdinsky) “Heavenly Bread”

The relevance of the research is determined by the need to study the heritage of the new martyrs and confessors of the Russian Church in order to represent their spiritual experience in modern church life. In particular, the collection of works of the holy martyr Seraphim (Zvezdinsky) “Heavenly Bread”, which is the object of study in this article, contains a consistent and figurative interpretation of the Divine Liturgy as the central worship of the Orthodox Church, which allows us to consider these texts as an example of the religious style of the modern Russian literary language and apply them in pastoral and catechetical activities, as well as in the educational process in religious educational institutions. The work uses methods of linguostylistic and lexico-semantic analysis, as well as hermeneutic and contextual analysis, which made it possible to identify the characteristic features of the idiostyle of the homiletical works of the holy martyr Seraphim (Zvezdinsky) and a wide range of lexical means that can be defined as resources of the religious style of the Russian language. The study established that in the sermons of St. Seraphim, the uniqueness and depth of the image of the Divine Liturgy is revealed through original associative comparisons between the earthly and heavenly worlds, as well as through the symbolic image of the lampad. An analytical description of diverse arsenal of lexical and stylistic means associated with the image of the Divine Liturgy allowed the authors of the article to propose the introduction of the term “axiology of image” into scientific circulation, which determines the scientific novelty of the study.
