Genre of the Gospel parable and its continuity from the Old Testament parables (based on the example of the image of God’s Wisdom from the Book of Proverbs)

The article examines the intertextual connections of the Gospel parables describing the saving activity of Jesus Christ with fragments from the Book of Proverbs, revealing the image of the Wisdom of God. The relevance of the topic is determined by the need for a modern interpretation of biblical images in the context of patristic exegesis using modern methods of text analysis. The research material is the eighth and the beginning of the ninth chapter of the Book of Proverbs and the canonical Gospels. The most advanced research methods have been used, including exegetical, comparative and intertextual. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the combined use of theological and philological approaches, which made it possible to discover direct semantic analogies between the texts of the Old and New Testaments. As a result of the study, passages from the Four Gospels were identified, the ideological content of which is similar to verses from the Book of Proverbs (chapter 8), describing the action of God’s Wisdom as a participant in the structure of the Universe and Her appeal to all those in need of admonition. In the 9th chapter of the Book of Proverbs, the Wisdom of God clearly shows the prototype of the Second Person of the Holy Trinity - the Logos and the nature of His preaching. The semantic association of the action of the Wisdom of God and the New Testament teaching of Jesus Christ is carried out through parables about the call of God to man, as well as parables containing images of the fruits of the earth and stone as a symbol of the foundation of the Church and the synergy of God and man in the matter of salvation. The authors come to the conclusion that through the Gospel parables, Jesus Christ fully revealed the essence of God’s Law. Therefore He appears before those who believe in Him as the Wisdom of God.
