Lexical and Semantic features of Bible phraseology in modern liturgical texts of the Russian Orthodox Church (based on Supplementary Menaion)
Keywords:
Supplementary Menaion, hypertext, liturgical texts, biblical phraseological units, stable combinations of words, new martyrs and confessorsAbstract
The article examines the lexical and semantic features of phraseological units and stable metaphorical expressions of biblical origin, used in liturgical texts dedicated to new martyrs and confessors of the Russian Church (Supplementary Menaion). The relevance of the work is due to the increased scientific interest in various aspects of religious Orthodox discourse and, in particular, in such a little-studied area as the textual role of biblical phraseology. The authors pay special attention to the analysis of historical aspects of the emergence and development of liturgical books. The Supplementary Menaion is characterized as an example of a text in modern Church Slavonic. In the course of the study, thematic groups of stable expressions in new liturgical texts were identified and described, depending on the context of their use, their semantic connections with the Holy Scriptures and previously created liturgical rites. The use of semantic-stylistic, contextual and intertextual methods allowed the author to identify the linguistic and stylistic originality of biblical phraseological units, including those characteristic of services dedicated to specific rites of holiness. The authors classify the set expressions used in the Supplementary Menaion into three groups: biblical quotations and their periphrases; expressions that appeared due to the historical background of the 20th century; non-biblical expressions taken from Hellenistic culture and reinterpreted in Christian discourse. The authors come to the conclusion that the use of biblical phraseology in the liturgical text is a means of religious, cultural and historical education, intellectual and aesthetic development for all participants in the worship service.
