Main areas of the Church’s spiritual and educational activities and their implementation (based on the reports of the Holy Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II at the diocesan assemblies in Moscow 1992-2008)

The article is devoted to consideration of the main areas in the organization of catechetical and spiritual and educational activities of the Church based on the speeches of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia at diocesan meetings in Moscow from 1992 to 2008. The paper notes that the primatial service of Patriarch Alexy II occurred at the time of the revival of the Russian Orthodox Church after a 70-year period of atheistic persecution. That is why the author considers the reports of His Holiness to be one of the main sources dealing with the organization of the church educational work of the above period. The study summarized and systematized the main ideas of the statements of Patriarch Alexy II, demonstrated the relationship of catechetical, missionary, youth and social activities, which are currently recognized as key areas of church service. It is emphasized that the spiritual and social message of the patriarchal speeches does not lose its relevance at the present stage and can be practically applied by those who think about the feat of service for the good of the Church.
