The article describes the main stages of preparation and discussion of the reform of theological educational institutions within the framework of the Holy Council of 1917–1918. The general description of the ways of reforming theological schools proposed by the Tenth Department of the Pre-Council is given. The author concludes that the reform of theological educational institutions, which did not take place at the beginning of the last century due to their closure by the Soviet government, is partially embodied in the modern system of Russian education in the format of Orthodox classical gymnasiums and theological faculties of universities.
