The article expounds the teaching of St. Ignatius Brianchaninov about human suffering: its causes, meaning and principles of attitude towards it. First of all, the emphasis is placed on the correct understanding of the source of human suffering, the sin and, accordingly, the purpose for which the Lord allows human suffering. Then it is about how to properly, in a Christian way, relate to suffering, how to experience it. It also gives practical advice on how and with what to motivate yourself in a resigned and patient endure of sorrows.
