The article examines the system of views of Saint Theophan the Recluse on issues of state and Church structure. According to the Saint, the composition of both the human and the state organism has a clear structure, where the spirit occupies the highest dominant position. With the loss of the spiritual principle, the state organism, like the human one, gradually weakens, degrades and dies.
