Contribution of the Russian Orthodox Churchto the formation and development of the education system in the Tambovprovince in the 19th century

The article is devoted to the problem of interaction between the Russian Orthodox Church and secular educational institutions in Tambov province in the late XVIII – first half of the XIX centuries, during the formation of a network of public schools in the province. At this time there was a formation of system, first of all, primary education, educational institutions in the cities of province opened. In 1786 in Tambov opened the Main four-year public College, which could learn from the children of merchants and burghers. In 1789, opened a small two-year colleges in Kozlov, Morshansk and Elat'ma.
