The Experience of Social Work with Children Conducted by the Russian Student Christian Movement in the 1920s as a Lesson in Organizing Youth Work

The article attempts to summarize the experience of social work carried out by members of the Russian Student Christian Movement (RSCM) with children and young people in the 1920s. For a number of reasons, the organization that arose in Russia did not manage to develop significant social activity at home. Therefore, the article focuses on the activities of RSCM abroad among emigrants. The article substantiates relevance of the study of the forms and techniques of socialization of young people, gives
a description of the emigrant youth. Examples of social work include creation of summer camps and the children and youth organization Vityazi, organization of conferences, circles and clubs. Particular attention is paid to issues of gender pedagogy; examples of successful separate education of young men and women are given.
