The Role of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Formation of Value Orientations of Young People (Based on the Example of the Tambov Region)

Abstract

The article is concerned with the study of value orientations of young people, with the process of their formation and methods of their measurement. The main task is to identify major trends in the development of the Orthodoxy potential in terms of its influence on the formation of value orientations of Tambov youth, based on a sociological analysis of religiosity of young people. The author analyzes value orientations of modern Russian youth and the factors influencing them. One of the main conclusions is that Youth is an object affected by society and social institutions. The Russian Orthodox Church has become the most authoritative and trustworthy social institution for young people. Work with young people has become a priority activity for the Church, which has a great educational potential, since its constitution is based on moral values. The goals, objectives, and methods of activity of Orthodox youth organizations are close to the tasks facing any educational institution today; their practical benefits are visible not only for the Church, but also for the state and individuals.
