The author of the article substantiates that the spiritual traditions of Orthodoxy are preserved intact in the monasteries of Mount Athos. They have become a treasury of Christian temple, fine and church-applied art. The architecture of the Athonite monasteries, as well as the technique of icon painting and wall painting, inherits the Byzantine tradition and bears the features of the Macedonian and Cretan schools.
