Tradition of celebrating anniversary dates in the system of church education of the Tambov diocese in the 19th - early 20th centuries

Abstract

Examples of the high level of effectiveness of the local tradition of spiritual and moral education and upbringing are quite organic to the centuries-old educational Orthodox tradition, laid down by the first centuries of Christian Rus' and supported by the asceticism of representatives of high and ordinary statuses in the hierarchical system of spiritual and moral education and upbringing. The last quarter of the 19th century was marked by a significant expansion of the education system, most of which could be distributed only thanks to active church activity, through its extensive network of church parishes, where church-parish and Sunday schools were organized. An example of this is the history of the emergence and activity of the church-parish school in the Pokrovsky parish. Special days that activated educational life in the parishes were anniversary and solemn days, the abundance and importance of which in the last quarter of the 19th century obliged them to be met with special preparation.
