Techniques of Artistic Expressiveness in the Works by St. Tikhon of Zadonsk (based on “A Spiritual Treasure Gathered from the World”)

The article provides a systematic analysis of means of linguistic expressiveness used in the didactic work by St. Tikhon of Zadonsk “A Spiritual Treasure Gathered from the World,” through which the author achieves the fullness and depth of disclosure of theological thought in a form of moral instruction accessible to all. The author concludes that the combination of artistic techniques chosen by the saint made it possible to avoid the deliberate vastness of reasoning and dry scholasticism, which was characteristic of church writers who continued traditions of the Southwestern School.
