Abstract

The centuries-old debate between secular and religious consciousness, originating in the era of secularism and continuing in post-secular times, undoubtedly acts as a destabilizing factor in modern social development, which determines the relevance of the research undertaken. The object of the study is pseudo-­criticism of religious ideas from the secular, or non-religious, worldview. The subject of the study is public religious enlightenment and education, the acute lack of which, in comparison, for example, with scientific enlightenment and education, is clearly felt in modern Russian society. The purpose of the work is to present criticism of religious consciousness from the secular system of ideological coordinates as pseudo-­criticism and to substantiate religious enlightenment and education as an essential condition and factor for the sustainable development of man and society. Research methods are social and pedagogical observation, comparative analysis, thought experiment, empirical generalization, deductive and inductive conclusions and inferences by analogy. This article is the second part of the work, which examines such pseudo-secular misconceptions, according to which 1) the believer’s hope for salvation can be regarded as a pragmatic motive; 2) the religious worldview, unlike the secular one, is not coherent; 3) Christian providentialism can be viewed as a type of fatalism; 4) the suffering and disasters of man and society “indicate” the non-existence of the supernatural world in its personal understanding and dimension; 5) the religious worldview is, in fact, non-social, or asocial, and therefore cannot be the basis of a national idea. The result of the work is the presentation and justification of comprehensive religious education and public education as one of the valid and effective means of existential and social sustainability. The scope of application of the research results is multifaceted educational, cultural and socio-­political interactions.
