Virtues and feat of Saint Blessed Grand Prince Alexander Nevsky in spiritual and moral education of schoolchildren

The article describes the experience of acquainting schoolchildren with the life of St. Alexander Nevsky in the original version of the 13th century and in the version of St. Dimitry of Rostov; it gives a detailed description of the concept of feat. The author presents a system of questions and answers of schoolchildren, which has pedagogical expediency for understanding the moral qualities of the hero indicated in the texts. Particular attention is paid to the virtues of mercy and meekness, which are fundamental in the description of the holy princes in general in the hagiographic literature. It was them, along with other moral qualities, that formed the basis of the feat of St. Alexander Nevsky. At the end of the article, the students’ reflection on the material they studied and their internal projection of the qualities of St. Alexander Nevsky onto their personality is presented. On the basis of the conducted pedagogical research, the author comes to the conclusion that the familiarity of schoolchildren with hagiographic sources about Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky makes it possible for them to enrich their value-semantic sphere, form a wide conceptual apparatus, actualize associative thinking and form a stable idea of the national hero, whose name is strongly associated with victory.
