The Gospel parable of the prodigal son: its moral and pedagogical aspect

In the modern world, the relevance of the Gospel is increasingly being questioned. Humanity, in its quest for self-determination, in the search for evernew rights and freedoms, is steadily heading towards the loss of the Divine spirit that was given to it by the Creator in the person of the first man. At the same time, despite the constant criticism of the Gospel from the postmodern society, the interest in the Truth set forth in it does not weaken. Someone is trying to find an excuse for their own sinfulness, someone is looking for some hidden meaning. And someone else sees in it the Word of God, directing a person to the inheritance of the Kingdom of Heaven. One of the features of the gospel text is a significant number of parables spoken by the Lord Jesus Christ. Different in content, they all had a single semantic load, the purpose of which was to give a person the key to salvation. In this article, the author examines the moral and pedagogical content of the parable of the prodigal son, analyzes the applicability of modern principles of pedagogy to it, as well as the possibility of its influence on overcoming the postmodern worldview.
