Cooperation of the Church and the state in the struggle for national sobriety in the last quarter of the 19th-early 20th centuries

The article considers the participation of the Russian Orthodox Church in the temperance movement in Russia in the last quarter of the 19th-early 20th centuries. All significant Church initiatives in the struggle for national sobriety were realized in cooperation with the secular authorities. On the other hand, the participation of the Orthodox clergy in the activities of state and public secular temperance organizations was an undeniable positive factor in the implementation of their primary tasks.
